Age Grades by Dave Broadwell, RRDO

Following queries regarding the age grades and the playing of " up or down" ages.  The following information has been put together for ease of reference.

Under 13’s may play with under 14’s but not with under 15’s or above.

Under 14’s may play with under 15’s but not with under 16’s or above.

Under 15’s may play with under 16’s but not with under 17’s or above.

Under 16’s may play with under 17’s and under 18’s but not with under 19’s and above.

Under 17’s may play with under 18’s and under 19’s but not with those aged 19 and over.

NOTE: A player under 19 on the 1st September is deemed to be under 19 for the whole of the season.

A player may not play within the ‘adult’ game (i.e. with players over 19), until he has achieved his 17th birthday.

The HRFU Management Committee has agreed to follow the RFU age limit on competitions. 17 year olds may play in the Hampshire KO competitions and Merit Tables. Players will not be allowed to play in the front row until their eighteenth birthday. This change takes place forthwith, effective 24th September 2003.

Matches

Junior players must not play more than one game of rugby on any one day.

Under 13: not exceeding 25 minutes each way with size 4 ball.

Under 14: : not exceeding 25 minutes each way with size 4 ball.

Under 15: not exceeding 30 minutes each way with size 5 ball.

Under 16: not exceeding 35 minutes each way with size 5 ball.
