| Daily Calorie Calculator |
A 150lb rugby player or referee requires at least 365 calories per day just to feed his brain - varied of course between different playing positions and higher for referees ! Remember that your resting metabolic rate burns some calories, even if you are inactive in bed all day.
Do you know what your daily calorie requirement is? Are you over (or even under) eating for your level of daily exercise?
You can estimate your daily calorie requirements easily using the calculator below. Enter your body weight, normal daily activity level, and specific exercise type (default is rugby by you might find using Jogging more accurate for a referees needs). Finally enter the number of hours you exercise per day and hit the Calculate button. If you just wish to calculate your daily calorie requirement without any additional exercise, just enter ' 0' in the activity hours column.
Notes: For those interested in what exercises are really burning the calories, the following table lists the calories burnt each hour per lb of body weight. Some of the exercises might not be working you as hard as you think, and remember that a referee is mostly jogging (weighting factor 4.2) not playing rugby (weighting factor 3.7) !
